Description
Spring has sprung and this time of year usually sees fresh offerings from Guatemala arrive in Australia. It is always fun to taste a bunch of coffees from the same country side by side on the cupping table, because you find those coffees which exhibit ‘classic origin flavours’, along with coffee from farmers who manage to bring something a little more unique to the cup.
Finca Jolimex is located in Guatemala’s famed Huehuetenango region. The 1.3-hectare farm is owned by René Méndez. The farm is covered in around 9800 trees - with a mix of Caturra (the lot we purchased) and Bourbon.
When I think of Guatemala - I think of a nice sweet malt character in the cup. This coffee is no exception - but it’s elevated by a sweet walnut body and balanced with clean fruit acidity. We always look for coffees which take your morning cup further, and we think this will do just that.
