Description
Last up in our run of Indonesian coffees is this delicious lot from Malino Mill in Sulawesi. The mill services the farmers of the Panaikang Village, who grow coffee at around 1250 meters above sea level.
Malino was founded by Yolan Tirta in 2016. Yolan is a third generation coffee producer, and he has transformed the local coffee scene for the community. With an ideal coffee growing climate and volcanic soils, some education around best practices has led to a dramatic improvement in coffee quality.
The flow on effect of this is that farmers can receive higher prices for their coffee. Yolan is working hard to improve processing at the mill even further. This dedication will put coffee from Sulawesi on the radar of specialty coffee roasters world wide. Amazing to see from one of our closest neighbouring countries.
