Description
We return to the home of coffee, this time for a natural processed lot. Mill founder Gizaw Alemayehu got his start in coffee the way most coffee producers do - family. His father owned a number of large farms in the Yirgacheffe region.
Unfortunately in the 1970s, a new socialist government formed and nationalised his father’s farms. This steered Gizaw away from farm ownership, and he instead turned his coffee knowledge to mill operation.
As is common, Gizaw’s focus shifted to the realm of specialty coffee, improving on QA practices in order to produce higher quality coffee. Ripe coffee cherries are delivered to his mill, where they are floated for defects before being graded and then dried on African raised beds. Attention to detail sees sweet fruity notes in the cup, without the overwhelming booziness associated with over fermentation. A sweet delight with plenty of body.
